Enjoy the University class experience while receiving high-quality EMS training through this dual-partnership EMT program from the University of Bridgeport and Saint Vincent’s Medical Center EMS Department.
This fall, students will benefit from the academic environment of the University of Bridgeport combined with the hands on, real-world instruction provided by Saint Vincent’s Medical Center EMS team – offering one of the most comprehensive EMT education programs in the region.
This course prepares students to provide care during medical and traumatic emergencies. Students will gain hands-on experience with EMS equipment and learn essential skills such as bandaging and splinting, administering life-saving medications, performing CPR, and managing airways. Additional topics include patient assessment, scene safety, and effective communication in high-stress situations.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification exam and apply for their Connecticut State EMT license.
PREREQUISITE: High school diploma or GED. If in high school at time of registration, must be 16 years or older by the end of the course to qualify for state registration.
This course aligns with the Office of Emergency Medical Services and the Connecticut Department of Public Health. Students will be prepared and eligible to take the exams to become nationally registered and state-certified Emergency Medical Technicians at the conclusion of this course.
